Driving Towards Independence: Consultation for a Care Leaver Driving Lessons Programme

To ensure the Care Leaver driving lessons programme reflects the needs and aspirations of our residents and staff, we are conducting a comprehensive consultation. This process will involve gathering input through a survey designed to identify interest levels, potential barriers, and suggestions for programme design.

Insights from the AA studies guide this approach, particularly their emphasis on tailoring support to address barriers such as theory test preparation, access to appropriate vehicles, and overcoming financial constraints.

More details about this consultation and the approach we are taking can be found on our website here You can also visit the Care Leaver Offer website to see what your local council does for Care Leavers with regard to Driving Lessons and Driving licences. The AA reports from the pilots are in the resources section of the Care Leaver Offer website but you can go direct to the documents here

Name
If you are uncomfortable telling us your age please put in 10
1. Are you
2. Do you
This is in the strictest confidence. I ask this because not having access to driving lessons is a barrier and could lead to care leavers driving without a licence which is exactly what I did when I left care decades ago. I'm pleased to say I've now got a full UK driving licence and no points. IF you don't want to answer this just put "NA"
3. Have you ever had any Driving Lessons?
4. Have you started to study or passed your Theory Test
5. If offered, would you be interested in participating in a FREE driving lessons programme?
10. Would you like us to share progress with you once this consultation has finished?
Just so you know. No personal details will be shared. Unless you give specific permission.
